It's worth the time investment to learn skills that could save your baby's life.

During June a CPR Class was offered to the parents of Door County at NWTC. Sponsors included: the Family Centers of Door County, Healthy Families, The United Way, The Child Abuse Prevention Fund and the Young Adult  Pregnancy and Parent Support Program of Door County. During class instruction parents learned the ABC's of CPR.

What's the best way to learn infant and child CPR?

The best way to learn how to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is from a certified instructor. It's preferable to attend a class than to try to learn a set of instructions from a book or website (although it's good to have these materials available to refresh your memory).

What happens during a CPR class?

The instructor will teach you what you need to know in the event of a life-threatening emergency — if your baby is choking or isn't moving or breathing because of a fall or a near drowning, for example. She'll also teach you accident prevention and childproofing measures.  Class participants will also learn how to use infant/toddler/adult CPR and how to use and operate a defibulator.
