Learn how to use it!

Promoting wellness and positive attitudes towards a healthy pregnancy, gentle birth experience, successful breastfeeding and informed parenting skills.

When: Every 3rd Saturday of the month

Time: 10:00am - Open

Where: Sturgeon Bay YMCA

Location: 1900 Michigan St., Sturgeon Bay, Wi.

 

 

Fun and interactive "Hands On" experiences will be offered.

 

Group time will also include:

"Play Time for Babies" and "Talk Time for Moms".

 

Fun door prizes for all moms!

October 20 - “Fun Cooking Tips for Mom and the Growing Family” and “How to Make Your Own Baby Food” using fall harvest foods! Topics include: When to Start Solids, Which Foods Do I Choose, How to Make Baby Food, How to Store Baby Food, How to Prepare Baby Food. A trip to the Farmers Market is planned. Door prizes for all participants!

 

October 27,Saturday - Moms Night Out - 5:00pm - Halloween Party - located at a private residence in Sturgeon Bay. Ghoulish treats for everyone!


November 10 - Guest Speaker ~ Pam Busch ~ Mobility Manager and Program Coordinator for the Door County Transportation Consortium ~ providing information regarding program which can help with car repair, car purchase, gas/taxi vouchers, driver’s education and simple adaptations for individuals with disabilities. This program is made available through the Women’s Employment Project Inc., from a grant received from the WisDOT.

November 27, TUESDAY   - Moms Night Out - Spaghetti Potluck Dinner - Contact Cassie at 19202646978 for details.


December 16 - "Holiday Celebration" including decorating Christmas cookies and holiday surprises! Location: United Methodist Church of Christ located at 836 Michigan Street, Sturgeon Bay. Time: 2:00pm - OPEN. A VISIT FROM SANTA IS PLANNED! Bring your cameras!

 

January 19 – Guest Speaker ~ Christ Child Society ~ will address “Shaken Baby Syndrome” and “Managing our Frustrations”. Video and open discussion will follow.

 

January 24, Thursday – Moms Night Out – 6:00pm – Movie and Popcorn Contact Kathy at doorcountydoula@yahoo.com for details. Pizza dinner planned with fun desserts! Babies are ALWAYS welcomed!

 

February 16 - Video on First Aid in the Home. Open discussion will follow. Each family will create a "Family Safety Kit”.

March 15- Guest Speaker ~ Birth to 3 Program ~ will present “Ages and Stages” and “Watching Your Child(ren) Grow”. Fun door prizes for all participants.

 

March 20,Thursday - Moms Night Out - 6:00pm - "Good-Bye Party" for Nikki, Brandon and Hayden. Located at the Bridge Port Resort in the SUNSET ROOM. Bring your swimsuit and a movie! Babies are ALWAYS welcomed! Questions? Contact Cassie at 920.743.4500.

 

April 19 - Guest Speaker ~ “A Healthy Approach to Discipline Techniques”. Learning new and creative ways to manage your household and daily stress levels.

 

April 24, Thursday - Moms Night Out - 6:00pm - at a private residence in Sturgeon Bay. Potluck dinner and fun activities. Babies are ALWAYS welcomed!

 

May 17 - Guest Speaker ~ A Day at the YMCA ~ “Programming and Scholarships”. Tour the YMCA while learning about programming options available for individual/child/family.

 

May 24, Saturday - Moms Night Out - 6:00 pm - at a private residence in Sturgeon Bay. Potluck outdoor cookout and fun activities planned. Babies are ALWAYS welcomed!

 

June 21 - Summer Vacation - Fun in the Sun Event - Activity will take place at Sunset Park in Sturgeon Bay at 10:00am. We will gather in the main play area near the large parking lot. Topics: TO BE ANNOUNCED. A picnic lunch is planned. In case of bad weather: event will take place at Hope United Church of Christ in the Nursery Room.

 

July 19 - Summer Vacation - Family Picnic and Campfire Activity planned. Family oriented games and activities will be provided. Event will happen at a private residence in Door County. Time to be announced. Bring your sunscreen and prepare to have fun. In case of bad weather: event will take place indoors. Contact Kathy for details.

 

August 16 - Summer Vacation - A Day at the Park - Playful "hands on" water activity is planned. Event will take place at Otumba Park in Sturgeon Bay at 10:00am - OPEN. Bring your sunscreen and prepare to have fun! Pack a lunch! In case of bad weather: event will take place at Hope United Church of Christ in the Nursery Room.


September 20 - Guest Speaker ~ “Lets Play” – Exploring creative ways to pass the days with your children through art, games, music and food fun.

 

September 25, Thursday- Moms Night Out - 6:00pm - Movie Night - Ladies Choice - Held at a private residence in Sturgeon Bay. Build your own sub sandwich planned. Babies are ALWAYS welcomed!

 

October 18 - A trip to the Farmers Market is planned. Door prizes for all participants!

 

October 23, Thursday - Moms Night Out - 6:00pm - Halloween Party - located at a private residence in Door County. Ghoulish treats for everyone! Babies are ALWAYS welcomed!


November 15 - Guest Speaker ~ “Routines For Baby and the Entire Family”. Fun door prizes for everyone!

 

November 20, Thursday - Moms Night Out - 6:00pm - Date and location to be announced. Babies are ALWAYS welcomed!

Each meeting will provide information regarding: What is a Doula? How can a Doula improve your birth experience? Comfort measure suggestions for labor and birth, breastfeeding education/support
and parenting skills.
 Private education options are available. 

Certified Doula, Certified Childbirth Educator, Parent Educator and Nutritional Counselor will be on hand to provide support. We will also have the opportunity for open topic questions and answers.

Please feel free to bring your birth companion, family members and friends who plan to be present at your birth and are interested in gaining knowledge pertaining to your personal birth experience.
